Team Surf Tournament at Santa Teresa

The Asociacion de Surf de Mal Pais y Santa Teresa is organizing a surf tournament this Saturday, January 29th. In fact, it will be a team tournament. The competition location will be El Carmen beach and is going to use a very inclusive format.

The teams will be composed of 5 people each. 1 open, 1 woman, 1 junior, 1 grommet, and 1 master. The combination of these different categories will be allowing teamwork between surfers with plenty of experience and those who are just starting in competitions.
For those not familiar with surfing competitions, let’s explain the categories. Open means any man or woman of any age. Junior is a category between 12 and 18 years old. Grommet is any surfer under 12 years old. Finally, a Master is any surfer that is over 35 years old.

The Tournament details

The tournament allowance will be 8 teams. The registration cost will be 10$ per person and the reward will be 250$ to the winner team, including prizes from the backers. Even if you are not a surfer, the event will be worthy to watch. So, do not think it twice and show up at Playa El Carmen. Maybe you will have the chance to see the next Costa Rica number one or a future Olympic medallist. One never knows…

The Association is planning more interesting competitions in the future with this same format. Indeed, this is the best way to encourage newcomers to get into contesting, get their skill sharpened. Meanwhile, veterans can share their experiences and help in forging new talents while having fun.
